By the way, pregnant women with FGM/C can be easily adviced in person at the Erding District Office. In order to make an appointment, feel free to write an email to schwangerenberatung@lra-ed.de.
If you want to protect your sister/daughter/cousin from FMG/C, please contact the "Youth and Family" department in the Erding district office (koki@lra-ed.de). You can do it anonymously.
Maybe you are wondering, why we write "protect"? We are using this term because FMG/C is forbidden in Germany and almost all over the world.
Feel free to read the information provided below to learn more about the reasons.
The statement of the United Nations Children´s fund (UNICEF) declares that more than 200 million girls and women around the world are victims of FGM*. In addition to this, it says that three million female people are threatened by it, especially in the region of Northafrica, but also in countries of south-east Asia and the Middle East.
In Germany are living around about 67.000 women who are victims of FGM and around about 14.000 women who are threatened by it. This is an increase of 40% compared to the data published in 2017 by the Bundesfamilienministerium (family ministry of Germany). Most of the affected female people are originally coming from the countries Somalia, Eritrea, Indonesia, Egypt and Irak.
FGM is banned by law in Germany and almost all over the world.
